Mariah Carey's Isolated Vocals From Tree Lighting Ceremony Fuel Criticism (Video)
Newly released video strips away the band and features only Carey's singing, and it ain't pretty
Mariah Carey's Wednesday night Rockefeller Center performance is a gift the singer probably wants to return, as new video footage showcases her isolated vocals to terrifying effects.
Though her 20-year-old holiday pop standard "All I Want For Christmas" seemed to delight the crowd at NBC's annual live tree lighting ceremony in New York City, The Concourse took the liberty of removing audio from the back up singers, band and audience so only legendary Carey's singing is heard. Listen here.
The result was a nightmare before Christmas for some, a call to defense for others. Check out Twitter's best reactions here.
A spokesperson for NBC did not immediately return TheWrap's request for comment.

Had all gone according to plan for Carey, the live performance would never have taken place. She was scheduled to pre-tape the song on Tuesday evening, eventually cancelling after keeping fans and crew waiting hours in cold weather and rain. The network agreed to let her sing live on Wednesday's telecast.
Call that a Christmas gift to the Internet.
